– Full-time - $32,568 (DOQ) – Road Maintenance
This is skilled work in the operation of public works equipment along with duties involving general maintenance of County owned roads, shoulders, culverts and ditches. An employee allotted to this class will also operate dump trucks and, if the employee holds a CDL Class A, the lowboy transport (semi). Work is performed under the general supervision of the Road Foreman.
Operates road graders, combo hoes, loaders, bush hogs, dozers, long and short stick tracked and wheeled machines in a variety of settings including but not limited to grading County roads, cleaning drainage canals, replacing right of way culverts and mowing vegetation and overgrown bushes and trees.
Operates large and small dump trucks, the labor truck, and the lowboy transport (semi) with possession of a Class A CDL with air brakes.
Operates large and small dump trucks, and the labor truck with possession of a Class B CDL.
Perform routine field lubrication of light, medium, and heavy vehicles and equipment.
Rebuilding shoulders and asphalt paving/patching of County Maintained roads.
Perform daily safety and mechanical inspections of assigned equipment prior to and after use; perform routine and preventative service and maintenance as required. Report larger issues that cannot be fixed in the field to the Foreman.
Operate a variety of major and minor hand tools, to include, chainsaw, pole-saw, tamp, shovel and rake. Participate in the laboring work of the crew as workload demands, including but not limited to: tree-trimming, traffic control, cold patching, and excavation by hand.
Use hand-held mobile radios to coordinate tasks and resources.
High School Diploma or acceptable equivalency
Valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes is required; Class A Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes is preferred.
Must have clean driving record with no more than 3 points off of Driver’s License from infractions.
Must have experience in the operation and routine maintenance of moderately heavy construction and automotive equipment.
Must have 2 years of working experience in public works capacity.
