BFL Fishing Tournament Standings

C. Scott Driver Park September 22-23, 2018

Post Date:09/24/2018 3:43 PM

The Marine FLW Bass Fishing League (BFL) season concluded this past weekend Sept. 22-23 for Gator Division anglers with a two-day Super Tournament on Lake Okeechobee.

Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers competed for top awards of up to $11,000 and $4,500 respectively in the two-day tournament.

Hosted by the Okeechobee County Tourist Development Council.

Lake Okeechobee is expected to provide Gator Division anglers with another excellent BFL season finale.

According to recent local reports, spinnerbaits, swim jigs, Rat-L-Traps and jigs are attracting good bites.

Productive areas include Grassy Island, Kings Bar, Tin House, Monkey Box, South Bay and the Shoal. When the BFL Gator Division Super Tournament visited Lake Okeechobee in September 2016, heavy cover near the back of Harney Pond held the winning fish for top angler Robert Crosnoe.

Crosnoe flipped a creature bait and was able to catch more than 40 pounds, noting that sizeable largemouth were feeding on bluegill in hyacinth. Other anglers will likely be seen working hydrilla and reeds as well.

This year, a two-day cumulative catch of 10 bass in the 40-pound range should again be enough to take home top honors.

The 2018 BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 128 tournaments throughout the season, five qualifying events in each division.

The top 45 boaters and co-anglers from each division, along with the five winners of the qualifying events, will advance to one of six regional tournaments where they are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American.

The 2019 BFL All-American will be held May 30-June 1 on the Potomac River in Marbury, Maryland. Top performers in the BFL can move up to the Costa FLW Series or even the FLW Tour.
