Okeechobee County Tourist Development Council (TDC) is a department's whose goal is to promote Okeechobee as a desirable tourist destination. This is done through multi media strategies that are developed by the Tourism Coordinator and recommended by the Tourist Development Council Advisory Board. This board consists of nine (9) members of the community that both have an interest in the tourism industry of Okeechobee and/or own or operate a short term accommodation such as hotel, motel or campground that pays the tourist development tax. This is a board that each member is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and serves four (4) year terms. Interested? Go to the TDC Board tab to get the application.
Okeechobee County TDC also has grant funding opportunities for events that have the potential to attract visitors from out of County. Do you have an event that is looking to really reinvent itself or a great opportunity to create something new for visitors? TDC offers the Special Event Activity grant for just this kind of thing! Okeechobee hosts a variety of events that promote overnight stays and are a fun and unique means to attract visitors. We can help with funding opportunities through the Host Grant Funding programs.
