FULL TIME

Head Mechanic – FT – 48,230
Supervisory and highly skilled mechanical and lead work in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel powered and related public safety equipment.  Work is checked through inspection in progress and by the quality of performance of repaired equipment. Reports to the Public Safety Director.
Requirements:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent recognized certification, 
  completion of a two (2) year technical/vocational automotive repair program.
- Five (5) years of experience in the repair, maintenance facility that service the 
   same type of equipment that’s in Okeechobee County fleet. 
- Experience in all types of automotive repair and maintenance.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience in the automotive industry or any 
   equivalent combination of related training and experience. 
- Posses­sion of a valid Florida Commercial Driver's license with safe driving 
   record.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification in engine repair and/or
   electrical systems, air conditioning.

 

Administrative Secretary – FT - $27,061 – Community Development / Planning Department
Performs duties of a staff assistant nature and participates directly in the work of the Planning Director.
Responsibilities:
Secures details of specialized information, coordinating office work and providing information regarding services and operations of the Planning Department.
Keeps appointment calendars and schedules appointments.
Attend Planning Board Meetings (one evening per month) and compose minutes from meeting.
Processes Land Use Application files.
Purchasing of supplies for the department.
Assists with preparation and management of budget.
Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
Requirements:
Must have three (3) years’ work experience involving secretarial/clerical duties including the operation of a personal computer, keyboard or similar data entry equipment. HS/Equivalency required.
Requires a TABE test with a minimum score of 11.0 unless you have a Bachelor’s Degree in related field. If you have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, please submit a copy of your degree with you application. TABE tests are good for two years and can be taken at Indian River State College.

 PART TIME/SEASONAL


On-Call Agri Civic Center Event Operations Technician - $11.56 hourly
Event related, called in as needed.  Duties to include early morning openings, late night closing of venue facilities used by clients.  Turns on/off venue lights and power in electrical vault or parking lot.  Turns on/off water as needed for client use.  Supervises custodian and/or clean-up crews; install/dismantle labor for pre- and post-event service needs.  Operates county owned equipment (tractors, turf/soil equipment, water truck, etc.) as needed.  Knowledge of livestock a plus. Assists in other event operating areas as needed.
 

Library Technical Specialist I – PT $11.24 hourly
Routine library work assisting in one or more of the service areas in the County library system. One year experience in library work preferred. High School Diploma or acceptable equivalent is required. A TABE test is required with a minimum score of 11 unless applicants have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in the field of library science.

 

Senior Services Meals on Wheels Driver – PT $10.58 hourly (Internal only) Expires 09/07/2016
Delivers lunch meals to elderly clients to their homes within Okeechobee County while providing limited daily contact with program recipients.
Requirements:
-High School Diploma or equivalency preferred
-Valid Florida Drivers’ License with safe driving record – no more than 3 points off of license for infractions
-A level 2 background check will be conducted.
