NOTICE of VACANCIES

•Program Manager – Senior Services – FT $38,580 - $57,870
Professional and administrative work planning, organizing and directing the Okeechobee County Senior Services Division.
Responsibilities include:
-oversees efficient and responsible fiscal operations, administers OSS budget, manages budget across multiple programs,
-oversees preparation and timely submission of all fund source applications and reports,
-responsible for oversight and fiscal, administrative and programmatic monitoring of subcontractors,
-responsible for OSS personnel management; allocates personnel, acts on employee problems, interviews and hires new personnel, recommends transfers, promotions, disciplinary action and discharges as appropriate.
-responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable current federal statutes, laws, rules and regulation.
-coordinates senior client activities.
Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a concentration in social work, psychology, gerontology, health or public administration; Bachelor’s Degree in one of these areas is required; Master’s Degree preferred.
-At least three years progressively responsible administrative and supervisory social service experience including one year experience in the planning or design of programs for the elderly; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
-Knowledge of the principles and practices of general accounting and management.

Administrative Assistant/Assessment Coordinator –$32,309 - FT
Responsible administrative work in the research, verification and collection as it pertains to non-ad valorem tax assessments. The employee in this position also provides administrative support to the Budget Director.
Duties include:
-Assists Budget Director with preparation of annual budget documents and other administrative duties as assigned.
-Works with non-ad valorem assessments (Fire, Garbage, EMS) including research, collection, verification of information; reconciling and processing assessment related billings.
Requirements:
- High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. AA Degree in Accounting, Public Administration or related field is required. Bachelor’s Degree in one these disciplines is preferred.
-Must have two years of advanced clerical/secretarial work, preferably in a government position.
-Two years of experience in government accounting is preferred.
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other government agencies and the public.
-Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Requires a TABE test with a minimum score of 11.0. TABE Tests are good for two years. If you have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, please submit a copy of the degree with your application
 

Animal Control Officer – FT - $27,061
Work involving the enforcement of County Animal Control ordinances and state laws relating to animals; ensuring the public is protected from diseased, problem and vicious stray animals and that animals are humanely treated after being impounded.  Duties include:  apprehending, impounding, euthanizing and disposing of diseased, unwanted, unhealthy, problem and vicious animals. 
Applicants for this position must have:
-Current, valid Animal Control Officer Certification (or able to obtain within one year of employment),
-Knowledge of State and County Animal Control Regulations and animal care procedures,
-Valid Florida Driver’s License with safe driving record.  Cannot have more than three (3) points off of Driver’s License for infractions,
-Ability to maintain effective working relationships with the public and other employees,
-High School diploma or acceptable equivalency (GED),
-Two (2) years of experience in handling, trapping, ensnaring and transporting domestic type animals.
The selected applicant hired with certifications and background required for Animal Control Officer I and will be paid $13.01 per hour.
The selected applicant hired but does have not Animal Control Certification will be paid $12.36 per hour and required to obtain Animal Control Officer certification within one (1) year from date of employment.
 

 Custodian – FT - $19,547
Housekeeping type maintenance of Emergency Operations Center, Administrative Annex and Health Department.  Work involves routine tasks such as sweeping, scrubbing, dusting, polishing floors, washing walls, cleaning restrooms, windows, walks and fixtures; does related work as may be required.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or acceptable equivalency
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with safe driving record – no more than 3 points off of license for infractions.

 

PART-TIME:

 

Custodian – PT (no more than 29 hours per week) - $10.27
Housekeeping-type maintenance of recreation center buildings or other type of indoor facilities.  This includes cleaning of bathrooms at soccer field and routine tasks, including sweeping, scrubbing, dusting, polishing floors, washing walls, cleaning restrooms, windows, walks, and fixtures, and performs minor painting and general repair work at the Civic Center, Basinger Community Center and Scott Driver; does related work as may be required.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or acceptable equivalency
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with safe driving record – no more than 3 points off of license for infractions.
 
• Housing/SHIP Coordinator: part-time – 29 hours weekly - $16.48 per hour

Responsible professional, technical and administrative work implementing the County’s housing assistance programs including implementation of the County’s State Housing Initiative Partnership Program (SHIP).   Prepares, submits and administers the budget for SHIP.  Attends Board of County Commissioner’s meetings and workshops as required.  Consults with federal, state, regional, private sector and local officials regarding housing and grant needs and availability of programs and is the liaison to the Affordable Housing Committee.  Background in real estate and/or residential banking preferred.  Must an AA degree in Planning, Business or Public Administration or related field with two years of progressively responsible experience in an above designated or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

• Senior Services Meals on Wheels Driver(s): On Call Position - $9.68 hourly
Delivers lunch meals to elderly clients to their homes within Okeechobee County while providing limited daily contact with program recipients.
Required: High School Diploma or equivalency preferred, Valid Florida Driver’s License with safe driving record; no more than 3 points off of license for infractions. A background check will be conducted.
 

SEASONAL:
 
• Lifeguard II: $10.89 (Seasonal, part-time)
Responsible for the safety of the patrons at the Sports Complex Pool.  Must have current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, American Red Cross or American Heart infant, child and adult CPR.
Required: Previous lifeguard experience.  Must furnish certifications with application.
 
• Lifeguard I: $8.84 (Seasonal, part-time)

Responsible for the safety of the patrons at the Sports Complex Pool.  Must have current certification in
