Building Maintenance Supervisor – FT - $34,276

Supervisory work in directing the maintenance and repair of all County facilities and their equipment and appurtenances along with supervising the building maintenance staff.  Work is performed under the general direction of the Facilities Services Director and Assistant Facilities Services Director.
Duties include:
-Receives and expedites all department requests for service (carpentry, plumbing, air conditioning, moving, etc.) and prioritizes work among building maintenance staff.
-Coordinates charging of expenses to departmental budgets.
-Performs liaison functions for contracted projects.
-Performs other job duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or acceptable equivalency.
- Five (5) years of experience in building and mechanical repair work; including completion of apprenticeship        training in one of the skills necessary in building and building equipment maintenance.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with no more than 3 points off license for infractions


Foreman – Road Maintenance – FT - $32,302
Skilled supervisory work responsible for execution of road projects including use of heavy equipment and on-site direction of works crews consisting of equipment operators and truck drivers. The Foreman is also responsible for providing on-site direction for obtaining effective and efficient performance from crew personnel in carrying out work assignments.
Duties include:
-coordinates activities essential to construction, maintenance and repair of streets sidewalks, curbs, culverts, etc.
-helps plan and prepare work schedules, assigns work to various crews.
-inspects work in progress, modifies or adjusts work schedules, etc.
-performs manual work as needed.
-Knowledge of road maintenance, construction, and drainage.
-Increasingly responsible experience in street and construction and main­tenance, two (2) years of which   should have been at the level of a foreman.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other county employees.
- Knowledge of Okeechobee roads and streets preferred.
- High School graduation or acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with no more than 3 points off license for infractions.
- Class B Commercial Florida Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.

Equipment Operator – Road Maintenance – FT - $26,270
Unskilled and semi-skilled work in the operation of public works equipment and duties involving the general maintenance of County owned roads, shoulders, culverts and ditches.  Operates a variety of minor powered machinery and equipment; participates in the laboring work of a crew and minor maintenance duties.  Semi-skilled work mowing grass with midsize tractors, using a lawnmower, weed eating, trimming trees, running small loader and other light equipment.
-Must have valid Florida Driver’s license with safe driving record – no more than 3 points off of license for infractions.
-High School Diploma or equivalency required.

Mechanic – FT - $28,706 (DOQ) – Vehicle Maintenance
Skilled work in the preventive and diagnostic maintenance and general repair of cars, trucks and equipment for Public Safety and other County vehicles.
-Performs mechanical and service work on heavy trucks, cars and pickups, such as:  front ends; four wheel brake job; tire replacement/repair; electrical repair; tune-ups; carbure­tors/FI repairs; drive train repairs; hydraulic and diesel repair and service.
- Responds to emergency road calls involving disabled County vehicles; makes repairs or has vehicle towed to Vehicle Maintenance.
-Picks up and delivers parts.
-Cleans and maintains work area.
-Performs related works as required.
-Valid Florida Driver’s License with safe driving record; no more than 3 points off for infractions.
-A.S.E. certified in truck or automotive field preferred.
-High school graduation or possession of acceptable equivalency diploma.
-Some mechanic experience in automotive/truck repair.


Housing/SHIP Coordinator – $16.48 per hour, part-time – 29 hours weekly
Responsible professional, technical and administrative work implementing the County’s housing assistance programs including implementation of the County’s State Housing Initiative Partnership Program (SHIP).   Prepares, submits and administers the budget for SHIP.  Attends Board of County Commissioner’s meetings and workshops as required.  Consults with federal, state, regional, private sector and local officials regarding housing and grant needs and availability of programs and is the liaison to the Affordable Housing Committee.  Background in real estate and/or residential banking preferred.  Must an AA degree in Planning, Business or Public Administration or related field with two years of progressively responsible experience in an above designated or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Requires a TABE test with a minimum score of 11.0.  TABE Tests are good for two years.  If you have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, please submit a copy of the degree with your application.

Library Specialist – part-time (less than 29 hours weekly) - $11.24 hourly
Routine library work assisting in one or more of the service areas in the County library system.  One year experience in library work preferred.  High School Diploma or acceptable equivalent is required.  A TABE test is required with a minimum score of 11 unless applicants have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in the field of library science.
