NOTICE of VACANCIES
• Program Manager – Senior Services – FT $38,580 DOQ
Professional and administrative work planning, organizing and directing the Okeechobee County Senior Services Division.
-oversees efficient and responsible fiscal operations, administers OSS budget, manages budget across multiple programs,
-oversees preparation and timely submission of all fund source applications and reports,
-responsible for oversight and fiscal, administrative and programmatic monitoring of subcontractors,
-responsible for OSS personnel management; allocates personnel, acts on employee problems, interviews and hires new personnel, recommends transfers, promotions, disciplinary action and discharges as appropriate.
-responsible for ensuring adherence to all applicable current federal statutes, laws, rules and regulation.
-coordinates senior client activities.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a concentration in social work, psychology, gerontology, health or public administration; Bachelor’s Degree in one of these areas is required; Master’s Degree preferred.
-At least three years progressively responsible administrative and supervisory social service experience including one year experience in the planning or design of programs for the elderly; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
-Knowledge of the principles and practices of general accounting and management.

• Electrician – FT - $37,456
Skilled work and the journeyman work level in the maintenance, installation, alternation, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade. Work is performed under general direction and supervision of the Assistant Facilities Services Director.
-Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments or replacements,
-Inspects, tests and maintains parks and ball field lighting systems, electrical lighting, signal, communications and power circuits.
-Maintains accurate records of time and materials used, and maintenance and repair history of all electrical equipment on which work is performed.
-High School Diploma or acceptable equivalency.
-Florida Journeyman Electrician’s License registered in Okeechobee County.
-Employee in this position must adhere to continuing education requirements by the Florida Electrical Licensing Board. Electrical Certification must be active during employment.
-Valid Florida Driver’s License with no more than 3 points off for infractions.

• Building Maintenance Supervisor – FT - $34,276
Supervisory work in directing the maintenance and repair of all County facilities and their equipment and appurtenances along with supervising the building maintenance staff. Work is performed under the general direction of the Facilities Services Director and Assistant Facilities Services Director.
-Receives and expedites all department requests for service (carpentry, plumbing, air conditioning, moving, etc.) and prioritizes work among building maintenance staff.
-Coordinates charging of expenses to departmental budgets.
-Performs liaison functions for contracted projects.
-Performs other job duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or acceptable equivalency.
- Five (5) years of experience in building and mechanical repair work; including completion of apprenticeship training in one of the skills necessary in building and building equipment maintenance.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with no more than 3 points off license for infractions.
• Equipment Operator/Driver – FT – $29,568
Semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation of moderately complex public works equipment such as road grader, front end loader, backhoe, combos, dozer, rubber tire hoe, roller, etc. Participates in the laboring work of the crew as workload demands. An employee allotted to this class will also operate dump trucks and, if the employee holds a CDL Class A, the lowboy transport (semi). Work is performed under the general supervision of the Road Foreman.
-Valid A or B CDL License with safe driving record – no more than 3 points off of license for infractions
- High School Diploma or acceptable equivalency
- Must have two (2) years of working experience in public works capacity.
- Must have experience in the operation and routine maintenance of moderately heavy construction and automotive equipment.
Final decision of appointment to this job will be based on applicant’s ability to physically operate, drive, and perform the illustrated tasks described herein.
• Custodian – PT (no more than 29 hours per week) - $10.27
Housekeeping-type maintenance of recreation center buildings or other type of indoor facilities. This includes cleaning of bathrooms at soccer field and routine tasks, including sweeping, scrubbing, dusting, polishing floors, washing walls, cleaning restrooms, windows, walks, and fixtures, and performs minor painting and general repair work at the Civic Center, Basinger Community Center and Scott Driver; does related work as may be required.

• Housing/SHIP Coordinator – $16.48 per hour, part-time – 29 hours weekly
Responsible professional, technical and administrative work implementing the County’s housing assistance programs including implementation of the County’s State Housing Initiative Partnership Program (SHIP). Prepares, submits and administers the budget for SHIP. Attends Board of County Commissioner’s meetings and workshops as required. Consults with federal, state, regional, private sector and local officials regarding housing and grant needs and availability of programs and is the liaison to the Affordable Housing Committee. Background in real estate and/or residential banking preferred. Must an AA degree in Planning, Business or Public Administration or related field with two years of progressively responsible experience in an above designated or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Requires a TABE test with a minimum score of 11.0. TABE Tests are good for two years. If you have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, please submit a copy of the degree with your application.
• Animal Care Specialist - $11.56 per hour, part-time – 29 hours weekly
Manual work in the care and feeding of impounded animals at the Okeechobee County Animal Control facility. This work includes feeding, handling, and providing custodial care with compassion to a variety of animals as well as performing tasks relative to the general care and maintenance of buildings and grounds. High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Six (6) months experience in the care and handling of animals in a personal or work capacity; or any equivalent of related training and experience.
• Senior Services Meals on Wheels Driver(s) – $9.68 hourly, On Call Position
Delivers lunch meals to elderly clients to their homes within Okeechobee County while providing limited daily contact with program recipients.
-High School Diploma or equivalency preferred,
-Valid Florida Driver’s License with safe driving record – no more than 3 points off of license for infractions.
A background check will be conducted.
• Lifeguard II: $10.89 (Seasonal, part-time)
Responsible for the safety of the patrons at the Sports Complex Pool. Must have current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, American Red Cross or American Heart infant, child and adult CPR.
Required: Previous lifeguard experience. Must furnish certifications with application.
• Lifeguard I: $8.84 (Seasonal, part-time)
Responsible for the safety of the patrons at the Sports Complex Pool. Must have current certification in
