Plans Examiner/Building Inspector - $37,456 - $54,786 (DOQ)
Technical work in examining building construction plans and specifications for residential, commercial and multi-family construction prior to the issuance of building permits along with inspection work in the enforcement of appropriate building codes regulating building construction, alterations and repairs. Graduation from high school or equivalent combined with three (3) years experience as a building plans examiner, building inspector or building tradesman/contractor. Licenses/Certification (required)
MUST HOLD FLORIDA CERTIFICATIONS IN THE FOLLOWING:
Building Inspector (1 and 2 Family Dwelling) and one certification in plans examiner category; Two (2) or more plans examiner categories and one (1) equivalent building inspector category; and Valid Florida Driver’s License with safe driving record – no more than 3 points off of license for infractions. Must hold current licenses issued by the State of Florida “Building Code Administrators & Inspectors Board “BCAIB” per Florida Statute 468.
Senior Service (OSS) Employment Vacancies - Program Manager - $33,279-$41,598 DOQ - Professional and administrative work planning, organizing and directing the Okeechobee County Senior Services Division.
Responsibilities include:
-oversee efficient and responsible fiscal operations, administers OSS budget,
-oversee preparation and timely submission of all funding source applications and reports,
-responsible for quality of overall programs and delivery of Agency services, and
-responsible for basic personnel management; allocates personnel, acts on employee problems, interviews and hires new personnel, recommends transfers, promotions, disciplinary action and discharges as appropriate.
Requirements:
Case Manager - $24,763 - Responsible social work in assessing senior clients and determining eligibility for service provision and case management.
Responsibilities include:
-screens elderly clients; determines eligibility for programs according to grant(s) policies and procedures,
-provides direct services to clients,
-monitors service provision,
-conducts case file reviews; completes necessary reports,
-maintains individual case files in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Requirements:
-Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field preferred,
-Two (2) years experience in Outreach, other social services or working with elderly clients (a comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
-Graduation from an accredited college or university with a concentration in social work, psychology, gerontology, health or public administration; Bachelor’s Degree in one of the above areas required; Master’s Degree preferred.
-At least three years progressively responsible administrative and supervisory social service experience including one year experience in the planning or design of programs for the elderly; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of general accounting and management.

Case Manager Coordinator - $29,567 - Responsible social work provided to senior clients, as well as the administration and fiscal management for all service provision in the case management section. This position is the back-up to the Program Manager; must be knowledgeable of all the operational aspects of the Senior Services Division along with overseeing the day to day activities of the case managers.
Responsibilities:
-Supervises and participates in service programs for financial assistance including preliminary eligibility determinations, referrals to appropriate agencies,
-Plans and supervises work of case managers engaged in the intake and assessment of senior citizens needs; authorizes home delivered meals, homemakers servicers and transportation for eligible clients,
-Assists Program Manager with management of grant programs as well as client feedback, surveys, department time studies, etc.
-Re-evaluates “waiting lists” on a quarterly basis to determine needs, priorities or names to be added or deleted,
-Advanced knowledge and skills in developing division objectives, operating procedures and systems of monitoring and evaluation of service deliver.
Requirements:
-Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field preferred.
-Four (4) years experience in Outreach, other social services or working with elderly clients (a comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Summer Day Camp Manager – 8 weeks/June 12 – Aug. 6. - $11.22 hourly – 40 hours weekly - Planning and organizing day camp for approximately 30-80 children and supervising staff members. Recreation, physical education majors and/or child care experience required. Current CPR & First Aid certifications required. H/S diploma or equivalency required.
Assistant Day Camp Manager – 8 weeks/June 12 – Aug. 6. - $10.58 hourly – 40 hours weekly - Supervises Summer Food program and/or implements planned programs for approximately 30-80 children. Recreation, physical education majors and/or child care experience required. Current CPR & First Aid certifications required. H/S diploma or equivalency required.

THESE POSITIONS ARE PART-TIME, UP TO THIRTY-HOURS PER WEEK:
AGRI-CIVIC CENTER, PART-TIME, ON CALL POSITION(S) - Agri-Civic Center Maintenance Technician – 20-25 hourly weekly, $11.22 hourly
Semi-skilled and manual work in maintaining various grounds, fields, and facilities at Agri-Civic Center.
Position functions:
- Maintains various grounds, fields and parks by performing mowing, weeding, tilling, raking, digging and other manual labor tasks,
- Prepares field of play for equine and equestrian sport activities,
- Maintains equipment and facilities by performing manual labor and semi-skilled work,
- Operates equipment occasionally such as: front-end loaders, tractors, box blades, spreader, etc.,
- Painting, carpentry, plumbing and minor electrical repairs.
Requirements:
-Two (2) years of maintenance experience, ability to operate light to medium equipment (such as a tractor),
-Knowledge of facilities maintenance and repair functions,
-HS/equivalency,
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with safe driving record – no more than 3 points off of license for infractions.
Swim Team Coach - $8.59 (Seasonal, part-time) - Responsible for the summer age group Shockwaves swim team, a summer position normally beginning in mid May and ending the first week of August (approximately 13 weeks). Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification and certification in First Aid, American Red Cross or American Heart infant, child and adult CPR required.
Lifeguard II - $10.58 (Seasonal, part-time) - Responsible for the safety of the patrons at the Sports Complex Pool. Must have current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, American Red Cross or America Heart infant, child and adult CPR. Previous lifeguard experience is required.
Lifeguard I - $8.59 (Seasonal, part-time) - Responsible for the safety of the patrons at the Sports Complex Pool. Must have current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, American Red Cross or American Heart infant, child and adult CPR.
This is a part time position only (no more than 29 hours per week if needed); personnel called in as needed.
Veteran’s Services Driver – part-time - $9.40 hourly/approximately 10-20 hours weekly - Responsible for transporting veterans to the West Palm Beach Veteran’s Hospital. A high school diploma or GED equivalent preferred by not required. Applicants must have a valid FL Driver’s license, safe driving record and current automobile insurance. Preference given to veterans who served as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States during a period of war, defined in Title 38, U.S.C., who served at least 18 months active duty in the armed forces and who was separated from service with an honorable discharge, or the surviving spouse of any such veteran. F.S. 292.11. Must be able to pass a physical in accordance with V.A. requirements.
