Kelly Owens was elected to the Okeechobee Board of County Commissioners in November 2016. Commissioner Owens is a Leadership Development Consultant assisting various governance teams throughout the state of Florida. She is the past Vice-President of a family business, Bob Owens Painting, Inc.
Commissioner Owens served on the Okeechobee County School Board from 2004-2012, the last four of those years as chairman of the board. During her tenure as a school board member, Commissioner Owens held numerous statewide leadership positions. She was recognized as a Woman of Distinction by the American Business Women’s Association in 2009.
Currently, Commissioner Owens is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee, and serves on the Board of Directors with the Okeechobee Educational Foundation as well as the CenterState Bank Advisory Board.
As the daughter of a career military man and the wife of a Vietnam veteran, Commissioner Owens was honored to be appointed to the Florida Military Compact Council in 2009 and continues to serve in that capacity to this day.

Commissioner Owens married Bob Owens in 1989 and, shortly thereafter, the couple chose to make Okeechobee their home.
