Equipment Operator – FT - $27,840/year
This is an unskilled and semi-skilled work in the operation of public works equipment and duties involving the general maintenance of County owned roads, shoulders, culverts and ditches. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Road Foreman.
Operates road graders, combo hoes, long and short stick tracked and wheeled machines in a variety of settings including but not limited to grading County roads, cleaning drainage canals, replacing right of way culverts and mowing vegetation and overgrown bushes and trees.
Performs routine field lubrication of light, medium and heavy vehicles and equipment.
Rebuilds shoulders and patched County maintained roads.
Performs daily safety and mechanical inspections of assigned equipment prior to and after use; performs routine and preventative service and maintenance as required. Reports larger issues that cannot be fixed in the field to the Foreman.
Operates a variety of major and minor powered machinery and equipment. Participate in the laboring work of the crew as workload demands, including but not limited to: tree-trimming, cold patching and excavation by hand.
- High School Diploma or acceptable equivalency.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with no more than 3 points off for infractions.
Experience in the operation and routine maintenance of public works equipment is preferred.
