TABE test

Select positions may require a TABE test. If you have a Bachelor's Degree or higher, you will not be required to take the TABE test. IF you have a Bachelor's Degree, please submit a copy of your degree with your application.

The TABE test may be taken at:  Indian River State College (IRSC), 2229 NW 9th Avenue, Okeechobee, FL

Activities Coordinator/Fiscal Support Specialist – FT $24,749 – Senior Services

This position is primarily responsible for the oversight, planning and conducting of all regular and special client-focused activities for both the morning and afternoon timeslots at the Lottie Raulerson Senior Center in a manner that fosters a warm, inviting, and safe atmosphere.

This position will also provide support to the Fiscal Specialist and will serve as backup for that position in the event of his/her absence.

This position will also provide support to the CIRTS data entry person to insure compliance with mandated reporting requirements, and will serve as backup for that position in the event of his/her absence.  This position reports directly to the Senior Services Program Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize, setup and conduct all age-appropriate, client-focused activities at the Senior Center with the express purpose of stimulating participants physically, mentally and socially

  • Identify and implement new activities at the Senior Center on an ongoing basis

  • Reach out to resources in the community to identify and engage a broad spectrum of speakers to address subjects of interest and import to seniors

  • Identify and engage skilled individuals in the community who are willing to come in and conduct classes, support groups, etc...to broaden the scope of activities with the intent of attracting other seniors to participate

  • Chair and give direction and leadership to the Senior Center Activities Committee, working closely with the committee in planning major events and/or parties for the center

  • Maintain and regularly update all activities related bulletin boards in and around the Senior Center

  • Maintain update inventory of activities-related supplies and equipment

  • Manage and continually update Senior Center social media platforms and the activities-related sections of the Senior Services web pages on the County website

  • Represent the Senior Center as needed at various Organization meetings in the County

  • Recruit, train and oversee volunteers to assist with conducting activities

  • Liaison with vendors to resolve invoice issues

  • Track grant expenditures

  • Reconcile budget accounts

  • Prepare invoices

  • Assist with budget preparations

  • Prepare reports

  • Data entry

  • Filing 

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalency required. (submit a copy with application)

  • Experience working with seniors and/or in an activities role preferred.

  • Must have the ability to pass a Level II Background Check.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • TABE test results, test may be taken at Indian River State College (I.R.S.C.).
